Electrolytes are chemically charged particles that carry minerals as part of bodily fluids in the body ionizing liquids such as water for essential bodily functions. It is important to eat very little in the desert as eating increase ionization of water and dehydrates the body quickly. Electolytes are compacted into tablets for medical use to prevent dehydration in cases of illness such as diarrhea and fevers.
